Let’s celebrate National Chocolate Covered Cherry Day with a flavorful and delicious cocktail!
This Chocolate Cherry cocktail is indulgent and sure to make your mouth water. With chocolate and cherry liqueurs and cherry soda, this recipe is a treat.
Not only is this recipe a great way to celebrate Chocolate Covered Cherry Day, but it’s also perfect for Valentine’s Day, and other special occasions.
So let’s get into it!
Ingredients
The ingredients in this cocktail are decadent and mostly sweet. Make no mistakes, this is not a savory cocktail recipe.
Chocolate liqueur and cherry liqueur form the base of the recipe. I purchased the chocolate liqueur here.
The recipe also calls for a little bit of vodka. As well as cherry soda. Any brand of cherry soda will work.
Overall, these ingredients come together to build a delicious flavor profile where both chocolate and cherry can be tasted.
Tools
In terms of tools, you will need:
- A mixing glass
- Jigger
- Bar spoon
- A rocks glass
For the chocolate shaving garnish, you will need:
- A plate
- Cheese grater or zester
- Small spatula
Garnish
I love fun garnishes and this Chocolate Cherry cocktail recipe definitely delivers when it comes to fun garnishes! It’s also super easy to do.
On a plate or flags surface, use a cheese grater to grate about 1/4 of a milk chocolate bar. I use the smallest grater so that the chocolate comes out small and fine in texture.
Pro tip: I find it easier and less messy to grate chocolate when it’s been sitting in the fridge to harden a bit.
Next, use a spatula to spread some simple syrup onto a patch of the rocks glass. You can make this strip as big or as small as you like.
Then roll the side of the glass in the chocolate shavings.
How to Make it a Mocktail
This cocktail is great because it can be made into a mocktail pretty easily.
Swap chocolate liqueur for chocolate milk or chocolate creamer. Also swap the cherry liqueur for maraschino Cherry syrup. Omit the vodka altogether. And top with cherry soda as instructed below.
And there you have it, an easy and decadent mocktail!
